Our Own
Our Own
When Ms Harris joined Mr. Biden’s campaign as his running mate, a wave of enthusiasm , swept across the nation. The excitement was visible. To many it was a vindication of their beliefs and to most a long awaited dream come true. Another compatriot poised to occupy the top echelons of power. A vicarious acknowledgement of their own wisdom, merit and capability. Yes, it was a historic moment for all Indians in India.
Relentless invasions and colonial rule do take away a lot from the spirit of any peoples. Indians are no different. Once a mighty civilization, that introduced the world to the power of “zero”, pioneered many scientific breakthroughs, was slowly relegated to a population of servile people, who couldn’t function without a foriegn ruler at the helm of their large country.
But not any more. Since the country gained independence from foriegn powers, Indians have started taking back what is and has been rightfully theirs all along . The centre stage in world affairs.
Not a day goes by when we do not hear or read or see Indians making headlines in the fields of science, sports, medicine, economics, astronomy, literature, law and humanitarian efforts.
If any field has been left out, it is because they are so many .
Indians across the globe have shown what Indians are made of. It doesn't matter who these people are , where they come from. It is not for nothing that the doctrine “the world is a family” originated in India.
Merely living in this country, paying its taxes, being participants in this vibrant democracy and social life, is not sufficient to make one Indian. There has to be genetic continuity or ideological congruence with the eternal values of this land.
Culture and values are the cornerstones of the Indian identity. Inclusivity , with some necessary and scientifically backed exceptions and pluralism, with reasonable homogeneity, are the key components of our cultural identity.
Any one , who is worthy of being included, is welcomed to join the fold. All views that resonate Indian values , have a place in the country and the hearts of its people.
You may be a white American who spent a couple of days under the sober tutelage of Himayalan masters or a white Brit who realised the purpose of his life in an ashram here. You may even never have visited India but are in sync with the spiritual progress being in this country. You may be White, Orange or Red it does not matter ( but Black lives do matter) you all belong.
Jealousy and envy never have afflicted Indians. Rather, seeing their own flourish in foreign lands, is a matter of pride .The struggles and misfortunes of the local Indians has never stopped Indians from celebrating the rise of Indians in the world.
On the other hand, Indians have become wiser. They no longer tolerate, although they are as a matter of principle, very tolerant people, foreigners trying to rise in their country. No matter how hard these infiltrators try , Indians are not going to be fooled again.
The third eye of Shiva has finally opened and it can see through and burn to ashes any attempts by foreigners to enslave Indians again. Thus, you may live here, give your life for the land, help indigents and so on and so forth, but Indians will see through you.
For Indians, Ms Harris, is more of an Indian, than any many who live around them and are a part of their daily social (or anti) life. No Sir, Indians will not boogie any more.
